Try it: How tokenization works
AI chatbots like Claude, Co-Pilot, or ChatGPT are software programs powered by an AI model. They do not understand words like humans do. Instead, they process numbers and run math equations on them to make predictions.
Before an AI model can read a sentence, it breaks the text into small chunks called tokens and assigns each a number. Type below to see how a simple tokenizer splits words into pieces and assigns each piece a number that an AI model actually interprets.
This is a conceptual demo. Real tokenizers are more nuanced, but the principle is the same: text becomes numbers, and numbers become predictions. What you see are numbers turned back into words.
